Shadow Landing Strip

(27/7/04) I own a CFM Shadow C series (G-MNWY) based in Ireland. I have access to a large lake close to me and I would like to have any information about attaching floats to Shadow aircraft.

Tim Harvey has informed me that the factory demonstrator, G-BONP, was once fitted with floats and that a  picture of it was on the PFA membership card a few years ago.

If you have any pictures or any other information on fitting floats to a Shadow please drop me a line at n1allg0rmley@eircom.net

Hi !  My name is Ross Leach and I own the first Streak Shadow to fly in Australia. 28-0917 Rego. It now has 662 flight hours on the clock since 1994. We have 3 other Shadows at our airstrip at Caboolture (Photo included) just north of Brisbane Queensland Australia. Now I have a digital camera I will send you some more photos from time to time. There is only 8 Streaks and 3 Shadows in Australia to the bests of my knowledge.

Have included photos of my son's Boorabee which won best plans built ultralight at our national AUF fly-in at Naramine in NSW. Its performance matches my Streak rev for rev. It only has a 2nd hand Streak 582 motor while mine is powered by a 618. The other white Boorabee was built by Pommie John who is presently visiting his home country over there in your land at this very moment. He ordered a Streak Shadow kit as he sent his money and CFM went down the drain 2 week later (CFM MetalFAx, not CFM Aircraft..Ed). My son then helped him build a Boorabee instead. Unfortunately the Shadow photos are not up to my usual standard but it was a rainy day. I will send you some shots of the others and mine.

By for now.  I will keep in touch.... Ross.

There is a group based on G-BUGM. They have their own website, at www.gbugm,net Part of their website includes a forum. It is mainly for sharing information regarding the availability and maintenance details, but can be used to share other Shadow related information.

I have a Streak with 450hrs TTIS, powered by a Rotax 618. Extra goodies include starter motor, fuel flow meter and of course intercom for the occasional hard of hearing midget I might take flying.

I live in the ricegrowing area of New South Wales, where the thousands of hectares of flat irrigation land makes this the safest flying in the world.
